How to make Shortbread

Mrs Tiggy Winkle teaBaking together is a good way to get to know a new group of people. Shortbread are tasty, and quick and easy to make. Why not bake and then sit down and enjoy them with a cup of tea?

A simple shortbread recipe

adapted from Cookie Monsters


250g x butter (or margarine),

100g x caster sugar,

250g x plain flour,

1 x tsp vanilla essence


1. Preheat the oven to 200 C

2. Cream the butter and the sugar togehter until it’s nice and fluffy

3. Add the vanilla essence

4. sieve in the flour and mix well

5. Remove the mixture from the bowl and roll out until it’s about 1cm thick

6. Cut out your chosen shapes and place onto a baking tray (You can use cookie cutters or just cut the dough)

7. Bake for 10 – 12 minutes or until they just begin to harden

8. Sprinkle a little sugar over the top, leave to cool and enjoy!
